Surat Becomes India's 2nd Cleanest City

Surat Wins #SwachhataKaTaj:

Surat's citizens had a delightful November as Surat won the title of 2nd Cleanest City of India 2 times in a row at the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav Awards. The event was held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 20th November 2021. During this ceremony, Surat has also received the Prerak DAUUR Samman.

PLATINUM (DIVYA). This prestigious award was presented by Hon'ble President of India Mr Ramnath Kovind & was received by Surat's First Lady: Respected Mayor Mrs Hemali Boghawala along with SMC Commissioner (IAS) Banchhanidhi Pani & Respected Gujarat State Urban & Housing Development Minister Mr. Vinu Moradiya.

What is Prerak DAUUR Sammaan?

Swachh Survekshan 2021 had introduced a new category of awards known as the Prerak DAUUR Sammaan. The title included the word DAUUR, which is an abbreviation of the new five performance parameters guide. 'DAUUR', implying Divya (Platinum), Anupam (Gold), Ujjwal (Silver), Udit (Bronze) & AaRohi (Copper) award categories. These categories were included by the ministry to further motivate the competition among the states. These parameters were based on some selected indicators falling under the SLP.

Surat was awarded as the 5 Star garbage-free City, also for the second time becoming India's second cleanest city that's second only to Indore. Now, it's our time to seize this opportunity & help Surat achieve the first rank in the Swachh Survekshan 2022.
