United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization that was established on 24th October 1945 (post World War II) with an aim to promote international co-operation and to create and maintain international order. UN has 193 member states.
The key achievements of UN include but not limited to Food Aid, Peacekeeping, Aid to refugees, Protecting Children, Running Elections, Reproductive Health and Population Management, War Crimes Prosecution, Fighting AIDS.
The UN Day Concert will be held on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the General Assembly Hall at United Nations Headquarters in New York. It will feature sarod virtuoso Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who will be accompanied by his sons Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, and the Refugee Orchestra Project conducted by Lidiya Yankovskaya.
The theme of this year’s concert, which is sponsored by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, is “Traditions of Peace and Non-violence”
