Novel Coronavirus has wreaked havoc in the entire world. In these testing times, SMC is leaving no stone unturned in order to ensure health and safety to its citizens. As we sail through this crisis situation, technology has emerged as a big helping hand. Surat Municipal Corporation has always harnessed the power of technology for creating newer opportunities & ensuring efficient governance to its citizens. SMC uses multiple apps on various platforms to seamlessly conduct direct interactions with its citizens. One can pay taxes, buy bus passes on discounted rates & even get birth and death certificates printed by using MySMC app. At SMC, we again took to technology to fight the global pandemic named COVID19. SMC COVID tracker’s primary use is to keep people home-quarantined. The COVID19 Tracker app also helps SMC to detect and take action against possible spreaders. SMC COVID tracker app is based on TTT system which is Tracking, Testing & Treating. This means tracking COVID19 suspects, testing them, and medically treating them after knowing the results. Developed by SMC’s IT department, SMC COVID tracker app has received praises from all over the country on various media platforms. SMC has used technology in many ways to successfully fight COVID19. From the use of mobile testing labs for providing a local testing facility inside the quarantine zones to the use of advanced fumigation machines for keeping the streets of Surat COVID-free, SMC has used every available resource with the help of the latest technology to fight this virulent virus. All COVID19 warriors are provided with PPE kits. SMC Commissioner Shri Banchhanidhi Pani has used video conferencing & live video streaming facilities on multiple social media platforms to stay in constant touch with the citizens in the time of crisis. Robotic stretchers were created by the city’s techies to help the COVID19 heroes treat their patients without coming in direct contact. Apart from technological support, we also salute the generosity of the Surat citizens who have donated food & other essential supplies such as masks and personal hygiene kits. Many big companies, NGOs, individuals & social groups have come forward and donated a generous amount of money to help the needy people during the lockdown period. SMC thanks everyone for their courage & generosity which strengthen us in our resolve to defeat this deadly disease and making Surat Corona-free!
