Government of India's Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has launched a new initiative to make its cities cycling-friendly which is called #Cycles4Change challenge. This initiative aims to create cycling-friendly Indian cities for its citizens, so they can use it as a viable, cheap and pollution-free mode of transportation. The challenge also aims to inspire Indian cities to implement quick cycling-friendly interventions in this pandemic situation with the support of their citizens and assistance from experts. From an urban citizen's perspective, we should attain this clarity that fitness comes from major lifestyle changes. So, if cycling becomes a part of one's daily routine, it'll be easier for urban citizens to sustain a lifestyle which is pro-fitness. Apart from lifestyle benefits, cycling is also a non-polluting mode of transportation. Making our cities cycling-friendly will bring a huge change that'll provide a huge respite from traffic congestions & ensure the wellbeing of the citizens.
As citizens, it's our duty to fill the citizen feedback form with utmost honesty in order to make our city Surat a cycling-friendly city. Click on the link to fill up the citizens' feedback form https://t.co/TMZcBjnnZ6.
Apart from providing your precious suggestions, you can also volunteer for this challenge by being active in the cycling community of your city. here are a couple of things you can do:
- Share videos and pictures of you cycling in our city's designated cycling lanes.
- Help your city plan and design cycling initiatives.
- Coordinate with other citizens and organisations in program rollouts.
- Use social media, community engagement, volunteers and other devices to spread the word and to evaluate the impact of the intervention.
