Surat Municipal Corporation dedicated the widened portion–Adajan to Athwalines–of the Sardar Bridge to the citizens on morning of 4 February 2018. Extended bridge capacity will ease the traffic issues for thousands of commuters travelling across the river tapi via Sardar Bridge.
Sardar Bridge will be expanded by 770 meters on both the sides at a cost of Rs.80.75 crore, making it an 8-lane bridge. Catering to the vehicular traffic of Pal, Adajan, and Jahangirabad areas, which are housing growing number of residents–this infrastructure expansion will result in smooth mobility.
On either sides of the river tapi, Surat city is rapidly scaling and developing. Building new bridges for connecting distinct parts of Surat has become a priority.
Under Surat Smart City mission, Surat Municipal Corporation strives to develop a comprehensive mobility infrastructure; keeping the ease, safety, and security aspects at the core.
